Spicy sardine rice cakes
Falling somewhere between a fish cake and being loosely inspired by onigiri.
There is something about these rice cakes that I feel makes sardines more approachable for anyone who is sardine-curious. It could be attributed to the fact that the visual element of the whole sardine being presented to you is missing - instead, the sardines are broken down and mixed throughout the rice. There’s no ~fishy~ essence within the final result either, I would say it’s seasoned adequately to move past being just sardines and rice where you are hyper aware that you’re eating sardines. Here, they’re a companion to the other ingredients and not living in main character energy.
