European food diaries: Sardinia part 2
In the south of Sardinia, there is a city with Roman ruins from a time when they ruled the city and built baths, auditoriums, theatres and public squares. Today it is a city that was rebuilt after WW II, blending ancient, medieval and modern influences. It’s a place where a glass of local Vermentino is on an endless pour, the handmade fregola is cooked al dente with clams and seafood and where I got locked in a restaurant bathroom right as my food came out (it was a medieval turn key lock)!
Cagliari had the most memorable food from our time in Sardinia! The bustling streets are filled with restaurants, most featuring authentic Sardinian cuisine.
