Reporting to you via a delayed flight from Sardinia to Paris, where air traffic controllers are on strike, though our (new) flight seems to be going ahead. Fingers crossed! Speaking of which, our trip has been gorgeous but not without a couple of oopsie daisies on our part, one being a silly mistake to not apply for an International Driver’s Permit to be able to rent a car in Sardinia without an EU drivers license. The day before we were meant to pick up the car, we’re reading the check in email, where it says you need a physical version of an IDP, which naturally you can only obtain in person in your country of residence. What did we do? We decided to try our luck anyway without an IDP, then once we were rejected we went over to another rental agency which luckily didn’t ask us for an IDP. So in the end, we got a car hire (a brand new BMW lol) but no refund on the first car, so it cost us a pretty penny! Blew the budget a little bit there, but we needed a car for our trip because we were travelling down the coast and had hotels booked. OOPS. Then, let this be your lesson, as it was ours, to not book anything on third parties! We booked a hotel via a third party called Rehlat, which only after booking did we decide to google it, only to learn that it was probably a scam. We contacted the hotel multiple times before our trip to ensure we had a booking, and they confirmed each time, then once we arrived they said our booking didn’t exist. Just book directly, lesson learned. Luckily we found somewhere else to stay but again, not part of the budget! Lol
